To be an empowered citizen in our democracy—able to navigate, improve, and shape our society and its institutions—you need to know how the code of the U.S. Constitution works. Furthermore, to be a galvanized and adaptive member of American’s 21st century workforce—able to solve the problems facing our world—you need to use computing to address today’s challenges. 

 

What is Two Codes?

Two Codes is a projected designed by the the College Board in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) to enacting key policies and plans that encourage greater participation and success in college levelcomputer science and civics courses. The project has an explicit focus of providing AP U.S. Government and Politics (AP GoPo) and AP Computer Science Principles (AP CSP) in American high schools.   

 

Benefits for Students

  • Deepen understanding of the relevance of the intersection between Government & Politics and Computer Science in today’s society

  • Apply of skills from both disciplines in project-based learning activities

  • Earn AP credit

  • Take AP Government and Politics (AP GoPo), AP Computer Science Principles (AP CSP), and one additional course to earn a diploma endorsement such as the STEM Pathway Endorsement

  • Complete the Performance-based Assessment graduation requirement by completing the AP CSP exam or the AP GoPo course

  • Take AP GoPo as a key component of a Public Service Pathway experience.
